THE DEAD SOUTH SHARE NEW FAN-FILMED VIDEO FOR “THE RECAP,” FROM FORTHCOMING DOUBLE LP SERVED LIVE.
The Dead South always planned to document the Served Cold World Tour, which would take the band from their hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan through 200 shows in over 20 countries. Now, with show postponements into 2022, the band offers fans a snapshot of their lauded live show with Served Live, a double live album and complete set list collection recorded at venues across North America, UK and Ireland in 2019-2020. A fitting offering for a “touring band without a tour,” Served Live captures the energy, spontaneity and musicianship of a band built for the road, on the road.
To make the new video for “The Recap,” The Dead South asked fans to share their own favourite captured show moments, recorded over years of touring. The result celebrates the people and places that are part of The Dead South’s story, from Murphy’s Pub, a tiny bar in Leduc, AB to Red Rocks Amphitheatre and many stops in between. Watch “The Recap” Fans Edition and count how many clubs, festivals and cities you’ve experienced, on stage or in the crowd.
“The Recap” is found on The Dead South’s album Good Company. "The Recap was one of the first songs we ever wrote,” says banjoist Colton Crawford. “It was also the first music video we filmed. This song really helped kickstart this whole thing, and we're happy it's become such a fan favorite.”
Meanwhile, The Dead South’s songs have continued to travel even further afield, soundtracking superheroes and socially distanced dancers alike. From the Houston Ballet’s stunning piece “Restoration,” set to “Black Lung” (from The Dead South’s most recent album Sugar & Joy) to the Global Shazam chart kaboom catalyzed by the appearance of “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company” in Umbrella Academy Season 2, 2020 also brought a William Shatner blues cover and an invite to perform on the Nashville Film Festival’s salute to O Brother, Where Art Thou?
