T. Thomason’s Summer of Blockbusters
“Ruinous Love,” Original Song for BookTok Bestseller, Out Today
Second New Song Appears in Buzzy Indie Film Backspot
Toronto Trans Pride Performance, June 28
T. Thomason branches out into new entertainment realms with two new original songs attached to high-profile summer film and book releases. With the new material, T. Thomason flexes his XXX (and XCX) muscles, with bigger beats and dark pop energy behind his blend of tough and tender.
Out today, “Ruinous Love” was originally written for Leather & Lark, the second installment of the NY Times and USA Today bestselling Ruinous Love trilogy by breakout Canadian author Brynne Weaver. Billed as a “hate-to-love dark romantic comedy packed with danger, chaos, and heat,” the series has gained momentum with rave reviews and fervent fandom, and also celebrates its release today, June 4, 2024. Performed in the pages by main character Lark, the song is now fully realized in soaring Hozier-level pathos, brought to life by Thomason and co-producers Dan Ledwell and Breagh Isabel.

T. Thomason also gets bionic in the electrostatic exertion of “Bodylimit,” a collaboration with D.W. Waterson. The song is featured in the trailer and film Backspot, Waterson’s directorial debut, produced by Elliot Page. Billed as a ‘cheerleader squad thriller,’ Backspot features an impressive cast including Devery Jacobs, Evan Rachel Wood, Kudakwashe Rutendo and Shannyn Sossamon, and has screened at SXSW and TIFF.

ABOUT T. THOMASON
Thoughtful and true, T. Thomason’s songs shine through the darkness in the world. Since he began releasing music as a teenager, Halifax-based Thomason has been on a journey of discovery. Lead by curiosity as his way of being, Thomason approaches songwriting as a commitment to “Say tough things tenderly,” a practice that reveals an impressive depth of wisdom, clarity and courage in the young artist.
Thomason’s attentive, confident presence is felt in all aspects of his music, in songs that build from ballad to banger, in songs that balance confession, confrontation and resolution, in songs that lay it all bare. Highly recommended for sweet bbs in their truest colours, and specifically guaranteed for fans of MUNA, Maggie Rogers, Troye Sivan and Kim Petras.
Through artist residencies and cross-pollinated music projects, T. Thomason continues to grow into his roles as an artist, curator and collaborator, bridging his experiences in acting, songwriting and community engagement to further establish his place and voice in the entertainment world.
