“Fantasy,” T. Thomason’s new single, is an indie pop bop that flips the script on the power dynamics of desire. With its bubblegum arcade bleeps and cheer squad chorus, “Fantasy” champions physical connection and self-owned sexuality, giving a wink at kink to make a point about the complexities of attraction. With playful joy, the song celebrates all hot bodies and healthy boundaries. Be the subject, not the object, of desire.

“This song means so much to me, it’s hard to sum up,” says Thomason. “It was inspired by years of feeling fetishized in intimate encounters, feeling small and disconnected from my own power in those moments. I wanted a song that sounded like running towards what we find when we move past shame and fear about our bodies and sexuality. Fantasy is about feeling hot AND human, not one or the other.”

Premiered in real life at Halifax’s The Big Sing along with a group singalong cover of Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova,” the new song arrives hot on the heels of T.’s Trans Pride Toronto performance and busy spring with releases tied to a variety of high-profile projects and initiatives. Recent singles including “Ruinous Love,” written for a NY Times bestselling book series, “Bodylimit” for indie film Backspot, and in Rainbow Collective’s group recording of “This Little Light” for Pride Month.

About T. Thomason

Thoughtful and true, T. Thomason’s songs shine through the darkness in the world. Since he began releasing music as a teenager, Halifax-based Thomason has been on a journey of discovery. Lead by curiosity as his way of being, Thomason approaches songwriting as a commitment to “Say tough things tenderly,” a practice that reveals an impressive depth of wisdom, clarity and courage in the young artist.

Thomason’s attentive, confident presence is felt in all aspects of his music, in songs that build from ballad to banger, in songs that balance confession, confrontation and resolution, in songs that lay it all bare. Highly recommended for sweet bbs in their truest colours, and specifically guaranteed for fans of MUNA, Maggie Rogers, Troye Sivan and Kim Petras.

Through artist residencies and cross-pollinated music projects, T. Thomason continues to grow into his roles as an artist, curator and collaborator, bridging his experiences in acting, songwriting and community engagement to further establish his place and voice in the entertainment world.
