Bacchus meets Blondie in NYSSA’s Shake Me Where I’m Foolish, out today on Six Shooter Records. The experience of listening to Shake Me Where I’m Foolish is one of total synthesis, a collapse of boundaries between centuries, a conjuring of wildness from within.

Toronto’s NYSSA announces Shake Me Where I’m Foolish, her new album set for release on Feb 1, 2024. Self-produced and mixed by renowned studio master Sylvia Massy, this is NYSSA’s first for Six Shooter Records.

As Spirit Halloween reappears on streets and strip malls, so too the season for NYSSA’s “Werewolf” has arrived. On her new song, NYSSA bursts through from the other side, baring quips sharp as teeth.

Spilling out slowly, line by line, the feelings seep in. Powerfully palpable, NYSSA’s cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” (ft. Michael Peter Olsen) begins with a breath in a misty morning meadow, inhaling an eery, airy fog that swirls on the edge of a dense forest somewhere in Canada.

Full of unfiltered fun, “Breakup Party” is a strange brew of 1970s Bowie meets ‘90s riot grrrl drawn by will and witchcraft to a futuristic dance floor full of colour, character and charisma. Suited up in rubber club wear, neon and glitter, “Breakup Party” explores magical iterations of oneself without the fear of judgement.

Mark the moment with a howl: Six Shooter officially welcomes NYSSA to both the label and management rosters with the launch of “Gemini Season,” a weekly artist residency at The Dakota Tavern. NYSSA’s residency begins Wednesday, May 24 and runs weekly until June 21. Fans of NYSSA’s writhing rock bangers and spell-casting vocals can expect new music throughout the Wheel of the Year.
