Today July Talk share a new song, “No Safe + Sound,” found on the forthcoming Remember Never Before (Deluxe), out March 8, 2024. Produced by Kevin Drew, the song is both churning and frothy, a sea foam feeling equal parts queasy and confident.

Songs from worlds away gathered for annual Solstice offering. For 2023, a decade-spanning selection of covers is now available to stream for the first time. With songs by James, FKA twigs, Wilco, Mclusky and Floyd Red Crow Westerman, the Solstice EP observes the longest night of the year.

July Talk follow the release of Remember Never Before with a stark and stormy, sublimely minimalist piano version of “When You Stop,” a song about the necessary, if uncomfortable, process of facing who you are. More than just introspective, “When You Stop,” reckons with the relationship between fear and revelation, the workings of fight and flight as paths to self-discovery.

Fresh off the euphoric two-night Massey Hall launch of the Remember Never Before North American tour, which picks up in Victoria, BC tonight, July Talk announce their first feature documentary, July Talk: Love Lives Here. The film, by first-time director Brittany Farhat, will premiere at Hot Docs this May.

July Talk marks the release of Remember Never Before with a lyric video for “When You Stop,” hand-drawn and animated by band co-leads Leah and Peter. “When You Stop,” a swirling cyclone of a song, is about courage. A chase scene, a jump cut, a monster in the room: “When You Stop” plunges straight into the pit of your stomach.

July Talk mark December 21, the longest night of the year, with “Repeat,” from forthcoming album Remember Never Before. “Repeat” is a worry stone, a meditation on the decisions we make and the reasons we make them.
