INTERSTELLAR RODEO EDMONTON’S 2016 LINEUP: THE FUTURE OF MUSIC IS NOW. COUNTRY NOIR, EPIC INDIE, CALIFORNIA SOUL, REBEL ROCKERS AND MORE COMING TO FIFTH ANNIVERSARY #iRodeoYEG JULY 22-24, 2016.
Interstellar Rodeo Edmonton announces its 2016 lineup today, unveiling a bill that brings distinguished, daring and dauntless talents to the stage for the festival’s fifth anniversary. Interstellar Rodeo has made its mark presenting an innovative mix of performers across genres, with a core emphasis on those making waves in the roots and Americana world.
Interstellar Rodeo takes great pride in the ‘Discovery’ aspect of its music programming. “Every year people tell me they find their new favourite artists on our stage,” says festival producer Shauna de Cartier. “Edmontonians have a voracious appetite for new music, and it’s a delight to feed that passion by introducing the city to artists they didn’t know existed until they play Interstellar Rodeo.”
Interstellar Rodeo’s programming ear is also tuned in to the airwaves, and this year’s lineup – the most youthful to date – brings the dial to life with artists who have made an impact at radio. Sam Roberts Band, Lord Huron and Kathleen Edwards all fit this profile: talented artists who have broken through with hit songs that connect with listeners in profound and lasting ways.
This year’s #iRodeo features five performers who will make their Edmonton debuts: red-hot, tough-as-nails honky-tonker Margo Price, Grammy winning soul sensation Andra Day, Adia Victoria, described by Rolling Stone as “PJ Harvey covering Loretta Lynn at a haunted debutante ball,” Swedish Grammy winner Jose Gonzalez, and Fantastic Negrito, a California blues rocker with an incredible comeback story.
Festival producers Six Shooter Records continues to grow as a label, and the 2016 Interstellar lineup boasts Six Shooter artists reaching new heights of radio play, commercial success and awards. Six Shooter is proud to bring The Strumbellas and Whitehorse, both Juno Award winners, to the stage this year. Six Shooter’s Sam Outlaw, a California artist at the vanguard of the exciting changes in country music, also joins the 2016 #iRodeoYEG bill.
The concept behind the event elevates the summer music festival experience with artist wine pairings, gourmet food offerings, and the return of the Interstellar Marketplace (launched last year), which showcases local fine arts and artisans.
Interstellar Rodeo Edmonton weekend passes go on sale Saturday, April 30 @ 8am MST. Tickets and festival details at www.interstellarrodeo.com

THE STRUMBELLAS (Lindsay, ON) – With a vivid, alternative rock sound front and centre on the new album Hope, The Strumbellas are one of the biggest international breakout acts of 2016.
WHITEHORSE (Toronto, ON) – Recent Juno-winning roots noir duo with an innovative approach and an intense chemistry. Whitehorse’s desert surf sensibility is distinguished by guitar wizardry and magnetic harmonies.
Just Be Awesome.
