CITY OF EDMONTON DECLARES TODAY CORB LUND DAY:
INTERSTELLAR RODEO’S HEADLINER HELPS TURN FRIDAY NIGHT
CANCELLATION INTO MONDAY NIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA.
There are many reasons why today should be declared CORB LUND DAY.
Extreme weather forced Interstellar Rodeo to cancel the opening night of this year’s festival, and it was Corb Lund and his band’s willingness to play a Monday night make-up show which set in motion a flurry of phone calls and planning, and a full lineup came together in a matter of hours.
Corb Lund’s career and success has spanned genres and borders, and he is a tremendously deserving and accomplished artist and ambassador of the city, province, and national music scene.
At 5:30pm, deputy mayor Mike Nickel will be on the Interstellar Rodeo stage to proclaim Monday, July 28, 2014 as Corb Lund Day and kick off the Interstellar Rodeo extension in true Insterstellar style.
This latest honour doesn’t sit on a shelf – it’s an accolade that can be shared with an entire city. With great pride and excitement, Interstellar Rodeo will celebrate Corb Lund Day in fine style, with a headline performance from Corb Lund and The Hurtin’ Albertans.
Corb’s attitude and participation set the tone for a long list of Interstellar Rodeo players also pulling together and making it happen – from food trucks and beverage vendors to lighting and sound teams, the City of Edmonton and permit agencies.
Join us at Hawrelak Park tonight to raise a glass to Edmonton’s favourite cowboy!
