BEST OF THE WEST: SIX SHOOTER RECORDS WELCOMES CHRIS WYNTERS TO THE INTERSTELLAR RODEO TEAM.
Six Shooter Records and Interstellar Rodeo are thrilled to announce Chris Wynters as Director of Festival Marketing and Partnerships. Wynters is one of Edmonton’s most esteemed music industry members, and brings decades of experience on stage, in the studio and in the boardroom.
Wynters is no stranger to the Six Shooter world. Says President Shauna de Cartier, “I’ve known Chris since we both started in the Edmonton theatre scene a million years ago. I’ve learned so much from him in the many capacities that we have worked together; in fact, he is the person who convinced me to quit my corporate job and enter the music business. I am extremely happy to welcome a longtime friend and trusted colleague into the world of Six Shooter and Interstellar Rodeo. The energy, positivity, insight and leadership he brings to our companies will make us stronger and more awesome than ever.”
In Wynters’ most recent tenure as Executive Director of Alberta Music, he worked to develop career opportunities for Alberta artists at home and abroad. As well, Wynters was heavily involved in hosting duties for the 2016 Juno Awards in Calgary.
In his new role, Wynters will steer Interstellar Rodeo’s marketing initiatives in both Edmonton and Winnipeg. Wynters will also continue to develop strategic partnerships in Western Canada, nationally and beyond. 2016 marked a landmark year for Interstellar’s corporate partnerships, including an extensive deal with Bell Media in Winnipeg. Wynters’ role will also include liaising with the City of Edmonton and City of Winnipeg/The Forks, programming assistance and (in the spirit of Six Shooter’s work ethos), whatever else is required.
“I’ve emceed every day of Interstellar Rodeo Edmonton since year-one. I love the event. And my history with Six Shooter Records goes right back to 2000, when Captain Tractor’s ‘Hoserista’ album came out on the label. I am thrilled to dig in with a company that I feel extremely passionate about, alongside some of my favourite people in this industry.”
Chris Wynters joins the team on January 3, 2017. Wynters will be based in Edmonton, AB.
2017 Festival Dates:
Interstellar Rodeo Edmonton – July 21-23
Interstellar Rodeo Winnipeg – August 18-20
