Six Shooter Records and Interstellar Rodeo are pleased to announce Sara Stasiuk as Director of Operations, a new position created to oversee both the operations of the record label and the company’s festival expansion. With this announcement, Six Shooter confirms that Interstellar Rodeo is branching out to Winnipeg next summer (in addition to the annual event in Edmonton). The first ever Winnipeg edition of the Interstellar Rodeo will be held at the Forks, a historic and happening public space in the heart of the city, August 14-16, 2015.

Of this news, Ms. Stasiuk says, “I have been an admirer of Six Shooter for years, and I am really excited the stars have aligned for us to work together formally. It’s a progressive move for the company to consider a Winnipeg office, one that sets a great precedent for my community.”

“Sometimes you gotta make big moves in order to achieve growth in the scope of our activities, as well as our income and profitability, ” says Six Shooter President Shauna de Cartier. “This is a big move for both our company and for Sara. We couldn’t be more delighted that she will be joining our already impressive team of talented and hardworking individuals.”

Ms. Stasiuk will open a Six Shooter office in Winnipeg with an official start date of January 5, 2015.

There are many reasons why today should be declared CORB LUND DAY.

Extreme weather forced Interstellar Rodeo to cancel the opening night of this year’s festival, and it was Corb Lund and his band’s willingness to play a Monday night make-up show which set in motion a flurry of phone calls and planning, and a full lineup came together in a matter of hours.

Corb Lund’s career and success has spanned genres and borders, and he is a tremendously deserving and accomplished artist and ambassador of the city, province, and national music scene.

At 5:30pm, deputy mayor Mike Nickel will be on the Interstellar Rodeo stage to proclaim Monday, July 28, 2014 as Corb Lund Day and kick off the Interstellar Rodeo extension in true Insterstellar style.

This latest honour doesn’t sit on a shelf – it’s an accolade that can be shared with an entire city. With great pride and excitement, Interstellar Rodeo will celebrate Corb Lund Day in fine style, with a headline performance from Corb Lund and The Hurtin’ Albertans.
Corb’s attitude and participation set the tone for a long list of Interstellar Rodeo players also pulling together and making it happen – from food trucks and beverage vendors to lighting and sound teams, the City of Edmonton and permit agencies.

Join us at Hawrelak Park tonight to raise a glass to Edmonton’s favourite cowboy!

Today’s extreme weather may have thrown a wrench into our opening night plans, but the show (and festival) does go on, if only a few days later. Friday night’s Corb Lund performance moves to MONDAY, JULY 28. Saturday and Sunday festival days will proceed as planned.

We have just made the call to cancel TONIGHT ONLY due to safety concerns for our performers, volunteers, and audience. “Edmontonians are hearty, and not afraid of a little rain,” said producer Shauna de Cartier, “but the high winds and rain make for unsafe conditions and we decided to work on a Plan B.”

And what a Plan B is it! Corb Lund and the Hurtin’ Albertans, scheduled to perform tonight for their hometown crowd, were disappointed when they heard about the cancellation. Undaunted, they figuratively turned the plane around, and will be back from Montana for a very special Interstellar Extension on Monday, July 28.

We have jumped on the phones and confirmed city permits, lighting companies, food trucks, sound companies, and volunteers to extend their stay and hold a full-blown, Interstellar-worthy make-up concert on Monday evening.

Friday tickets will be honoured for Monday’s performance. Single tickets will be available for purchase through Details regarding refunds will be available on the website. Please stay tuned.

It will Just Be Awesome.

Move your Friday night Interstellar Rodeo party indoors – Trampled by Turtles will be playing the Starlite Room tonight (10030-102 St.). Doors @ 9pm.
Tickets available at the door.

We are thrilled to welcome Juno award-winning Blackie and the Rodeo Kings to this year’s Interstellar Rodeo. The fearless trio of Colin Linden, Stephen Fearing, Tom Wilson will be gracing the Interstellar stage on Friday, July 25 at 7:10 p.m.

Justin Townes Earle, who previously held this timeslot, announced last week the cancellation of all upcoming Canadian dates.

Great news! The new Heritage Amphitheatre canopy has now been successfully installed. Congrats to the City and their hard-working crew for getting it in place in time for Interstellar Rodeo. We have cancelled our contingency plans to erect a temporary site…we’ll all be able to party in the Amphitheatre for good vibes and good times!

There are still day tickets for Saturday available, but they’re going fast. Like maybe we have about 30 left. Oh man, this is going to be one hell of a party! Oh, and since tickets are getting pretty scarce pretty fast, and we know some of you might be working yourselves into a bit of a tizzy about making sure you get to see all the great music you want to see, we have set up a cool swap board thingy where you can buy, sell, or trade tickets with all your Interstellar pals! Presented at the Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park, Edmonton, on the weekend of July 26-28, Interstellar Rodeo 2013 welcomes a host of musical mavericks, outlaws and rogues of all stripes (and even a few nice and quiet law-abiding folks), including Alabama Shakes, Steve Earle and the Dukes, M. Ward, and more. Kicking off the festival is legendary Edmonton band Jr. Gone Wild, who announced their reunion just in time to be added to the bill. Six Shooterers Danny Michel (with the Garifuna Collective), the Deep Dark Woods, the Good Lovelies, and former Six Shooterers Elliott BROOD have joined the party, as well as local heroes and long time friends Shout Out Out Out Out. Our pals Serena Ryder, Sarah Harmer, the Skydiggers, CR Avery, and Mike Plume, as well as accolade soaked American up-and-comers Kurt Vile and John Fullbright, are all making the glorious pilgrimage to Edmonton, guaranteeing a weekend packed full of stellar tune-age! We are crazy passionate about our flagship festival, and believe me, we have put a lot of thought and effort into carefully selecting artists who blaze their own trails, defy expectations and make music that transcends genres. We want the Interstellar Rodeo to be the best, most memorable festival experience for you, our wonderful music loving fans!

Driven by the blissful glee of how awesome last year’s festival was, we are focused on making Interstellar Rodeo even better! To that end, we are adding two new musical features this year! First up, the Interstellar All-Stars (Sunday, July 28), is a one-day-only “songwriter supergroup” (complete with a fully rocking all-star backing band) featuring Jim Cuddy, Danny Michel and Quique Escamilla. The All-Stars idea grew out of a recent showcase presented by the Americana Music Festival, where these three distinct artists learned each other’s songs and put on such a wicked awesome show that we had to cop the idea ask them to do it again. The Interstellar All-Stars is Six Shooter’s spin on the classic workshop concept.

The second new feature is motivated by our desire to present as many artists as we can in one weekend, on only one stage. Interstellar Rodeo 2013 introduces the Interludes, short sets spotlighting a collection of incredible singer-songwriters. This year’s Interludes performers are Amelia Curran, Del Barber and Rachel Sermanni. In all, 23 artists will grace the Interstellar stage. Did any of you see that psychological thriller starring Jim Carrey called The Number 23? Yeah, me neither, but I’m sure cramming 23 artists onto our stage will be both psychological and thrilling!

We really have to take a moment here to give our sincerest thanks to our returning patrons, volunteers, and sponsors. It is so tremendously uplifting and exciting to see our festival grow and to have the opportunity to bring more amazing music to more amazing people! Together, along with newcomers to this year’s festivities, we’ll make Interstellar Rodeo 2013 a weekend to remember.

Interstellar Rodeo On Sale Next Week

We can finally use the phrase, “This ain’t our first rodeo” when it comes to our summer festival presented by Six Shooter in Edmonton, AB! I mean, we already using that phrase for many other things, like ordering breakfast, operating a juicer, taking public transit, negotiating with terrorists, entering a sheep shearing contest, building a competitive battle robot, giving the Biebs a piggy-back ride, wearing swim goggles while chopping onions, operating a Zamboni, going to an actual rodeo, sabre fencing, that kind of stuff. BUT, specifically in reference to our totally amazing summer music festival in Edmonton, AB, NOW is the time for us to use said phrase!! So here we go, this ain’t our first (Interstellar) rodeo! The line up for Interstellar Rodeo 2013 will be announced on Tuesday! You have a nice long weekend to prepare yourself for the announcement, and then BLAMMO, we gonna hit you with a truth bomb! We are really, extremely, hella stoked about the amazing artists we have coming to Edmonton this summer, and we know you will be too! Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, April 6, and will be available through our webstore at, and also in person (in Edmonton) through Blackbyrd Myoozik and Permanent Records.

For those who attended last year, you will be able to get in on the pre-sale happening between April 3-5. In order to qualify, you need to create a log in on our new webstore (go to, click “store”, and then click “log in” on the top right corner). When you’re filling out the form, click the button that says “I went to Interstellar Rodeo 2012.” Please note: being on this email list does not mean you are automatically on our new webstore system. The two are separate systems. One of them is the email list system, the other is the new webstore system. Systems. Not the same. Syyyyyssssteeeem-mm-m-m-m-s. *bloop*

The festival dates this year are July 26-28, and it will once again be hosted at the lovely William Hawrelak Park amphitheatre, and the vibes will once again be glorious.

We really can’t overstate how excited we are for the return of our festival! The inaugural edition of Interstellar Rodeo was so much fun, and the overwhelmingly fantastic response we got from those who attended last year has been truly inspiring. We can’t wait to saddle up and do it even better for you all this time around! Yaaa!
