THINK SYNC
Six Shooter Records’ new licensing and publishing division puts more people power behind the songs.
Six Shooter Records is thrilled to announce Kim Temple as the head of Licensing and Publishing, a new position created to invest in and develop the company’s resources and business in these realms. Temple will work to create new opportunities for clients in the world of songwriting collaborations out of the label’s Nashville office, and will pursue licensing opportunities for both the publishing and label rosters with the same artist-first energy and integrity that Six Shooter demonstrates in other realms.
Temple has worked for Six Shooter for nearly two years as an artist bookkeeper, and moves into this new role having already been active and successful in pursuing new opportunities in these realms. “Kim’s creativity and passion for artists makes her a natural in this role. It’s great to see her flourishing in her new domain, and I’m looking forward to walking through the new doors Kim will open for us in the future in North America,” says President Shauna de Cartier.
“It’s an exciting time to be representing Six Shooter’s catalogue,” says Temple. “The label has really broadened its sound as of late, branching out into a variety of genres such as experimental, art pop, traditional country and more. The incredible range of our catalogue opens up a world of possibilities for sync licensing.”
With experience both as an artist and in the sync realm, Temple’s expertise has been honed on both sides of the licensing contract. “There’s nothing more exciting than hearing a song like ‘Spirits’ by The Strumbellas before anyone else has heard it and realizing this is going to be a hit. The impact of that song alone has opened doors for the whole Strumbellas catalogue. It’s a licensing dream come true.”
ABOUT KIM TEMPLE
Kim Temple brings more than 20 years of experience in the business, which includes music publishing, film & TV licensing, and royalty collections. Temple is passionate about expanding Six Shooter’s publishing catalogue, and bringing its artists’ music to a broader audience.
“My goal is to expand Six Shooter’s publishing catalogue and seek placements and sync opportunities that are a good match for our bands and solo artists. I want to create co-writing opportunities in Toronto, Nashville, Austin, New York and Los Angeles, and to do whatever I can to help our artists make a sustainable living so they can continue to create.”
Kim Temple is also a Juno Award nominated drummer.
