Six Shooter Records welcomes Morgan Coates as Digital Marketing Manager.
Six Shooter Management brings Matt Maw on board as new Artist Management Associate.
Six Shooter Records is excited to announce that Morgan Coates and Matt Maw have joined the label and management teams in the Toronto office, effectively immediately.
Morgan Coates, the voice behind the social media accounts for Interstellar Rodeo in both Edmonton and Winnipeg since 2016, brings digital marketing know-how, boundless curiosity and forward-thinking ideas to the label’s marketing department. Most recently, Morgan worked with POP Entertainment & Management in Winnipeg and worked closely with notable clients including the Indigenous Music Awards, BreakOut West and the Western Canadian Music Awards.
“We’ve been dazzled by Morgan for a couple years in his role on the marketing team for Interstellar Rodeo,” says Six Shooter’s Shauna de Cartier. “Morgan is super smart, a whiz with tech, extremely knowledgeable, and an excellent human. When we heard he was moving to Toronto, we snapped him up right away. He already feels like family to us.”
“I’ve admired the Six Shooter team and artists since I began working on Interstellar Rodeo in 2016” says Coates. “I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Six Shooter Records full-time, where I can engage with fans, build audiences, and expand my love for music and digital marketing.”
This year, the label celebrated JUNO nominations for albums by Whitehorse, Amelia Curran and Tanya Tagaq. Six Shooter Records is currently nominated for its fourth consecutive CIMA Marketing Award, this year for the creative, politically engaged marketing initiatives in support of Whitehorse’s Panther In The Dollhouse.
Originally from Waterloo, Matt Maw began his career DJing and promoting at local venues. Most recently, Matt was Label Manager at RPM Records, an independent, Indigenous owned and operated label. Matt has worked in various production, licensing and festival promotion roles, including the New Constellations festival/tour, and was selected to participate in the 2018 Passport Music Export Summit in Winnipeg.
“I’m beyond excited to be joining the management team at Six Shooter, having admired their roster, reputation and ethos since I can remember,” saw Maw. “I also feel incredibly privileged and humbled to granted the opportunity to work alongside some of the country’s most exciting emerging acts; and to be part of helping to bring recognition and awareness to the next wave Indigenous talent Canada has to offer.”
“From the moment I first met with Matt, I knew he was the right addition to our team. Not only did he come highly recommended from some trusted industry sources, but he also shares the same passion and enthusiasm for artist management as we do,” Six Shooter’s Helen Britton shares. “The expansion of our management division is an exciting time at Six Shooter, and I look forward to Matt being a part of this journey.”
Led by Britton and Shauna de Cartier, Six Shooter’s artist management team includes Chris Wynters (Edmonton), Vanessa Kuzina (Winnipeg), Mike McKeown (Austin) and Tim Millar (business management services, Toronto). Six Shooter’s management roster has grown significantly in recent months with new signings The Dead South, The Jerry Cans and Riit. The roster also includes Tanya Tagaq, Whitehorse, Rheostatics, Ensign Broderick and Whitney Rose.
