TEET SWIDBITS

The Canadian Folk Music Awards have announced their nominations for records released between Aug ’11 and July ’12. We’re stoked as all get out to see some of our albums in the running! Whitehorse and Deep Dark Woods picked up noms for Contemporary Album of the Year, the Deep Dark Woods are up for English Songwriter of the YearWhitehorse is nominated for Vocal Group of the Year and Ensemble of the Year, and Del Barber appears in the category for Solo Artist of the Year. Folkin’ A!

We had a banner year at the Americana Music Awards in Nashville last month, with fantastic concerts by Whitehorse and the Deep Dark Woods, not to mention the shooter-filled Outlaws & Gunslingers luncheon on Broadway Avenue’s Second Fiddle. Fellow Canadians Belle Starr and Joe Nolan added to the fun. International execs lined up to get on the horse with our fantastic Six Shooter artists…. stay tuned for news on album releases in the USA, Australia, and Europe.

I feel comfortable understating that the boys of Harlan Pepper were pretty pumped to meet their hero, “Uncle” Neil Young, at his recent concert in Windsor, ON. Check out the amazing picture here and no, sadly, those flowers are not from the band (although they do plan to class it up with a bouquet next time). Up next for Harlan Pepper is a Canadian tour with the amazing Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (check tour dates).

We can haz wax! Vinyl is, and has always been, my favorite format for recorded music, so I am pleased as punch that the renewed popularity of vinyl continues to rise! We are pressing more records than ever before here at Six Shooter, so get on down to your local indie record store, or head over to our webstore, to check out which titles are available on a glorious 12 inch platter with big and beautiful artwork! Presales are now available for Jenn Grant‘s The Beautiful Wild & Whitehorse‘s The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss.
