RECORD STORE DAY
Saturday, April 20 is Record Store Day (4/20 duuuude, Bob Marley picture disc, whuuut?), which is pretty much akin to music nerd Xmas! We love glorious vinyl, and we love independent music retailers, so we’re getting right into the spirit with an exclusive and limited RSD Whitehorse 7”! This release features two unique and unreleased versions of tracks from both the past and present. Representing the present, Side A is a live recording of “Devil’s Got A Gun,” recorded at Catherine North Studio in Hamilton, ON (where The Fate of the World Depends on This Kiss was made). The recording is a rare full-band performance, featuring Derek Downham (The Beauties) on drums, Anna Ruddick (Ladies of the Canyon) on bass and Chloe Doucet-Winkelman on backing vocals and keys. Side B is Whitehorse’s current take on a past Veal classic. Remember Veal? Luke’s bitchin’ old band? We sure do! “Lipstick” brings Luke Doucet’s back-catalogue bossa nova gem back to life in humid Whitehorse fashion. The song showcases all that sweltering chemistry that has come to define Whitehorse on stage and on disc. Look for the Whitehorse 7” at a fine independent retailer near you, or stay tuned for your chance to win one of these limited edition Record Store Day exclusives.
