ARTHORSE: MEET LYLE BELL, CREATIVE WIZARD BEHIND WHITEHORSE'S DOUBLE ALBUM DROP OF 2021
Six Shooter celebrates the work of artist-in-residence Lyle Bell, leader of the label’s in-house Art Squad, with a new mini-doc that goes behind the scenes and into the creative minds of the visual team behind Whitehorse’s 2021 releases.
In 2020, Whitehorse delivered three new full-length albums to Six Shooter Records, home of the artists’ solo careers and musical partnership for over 20 years. Modern Love is a hushed lo-fi affair, a collection of tender and juicy secrets whispered directly into your ear. Strike Me Down, album number 2, is a work of bravado and bluster, all high gloss and megawatts. The third, well, it’s not quite time for that yet, but trust us when we say it’s Whitehorse at their most excellent.
But what would these albums, photos and videos look like? How could it all be done in the middle of a pandemic, on a limited budget? And, most importantly, who would translate these vastly different moods into visuals? Enter Lyle Bell, mad scientist, wizard and captain of Six Shooter’s Art Squad.
Step into Lyle Bell’s creative process in a brand new, ‘making of’ mini doc.

ABOUT LYLE BELL
An artistic renaissance man of sorts, Lyle is currently the resident graphic designer and photographer at Six Shooter Records. He is an accomplished musician and songwriter, relentlessly writing and touring with his bands The Wet Secrets, Whitey Houston and synthlords Shout Out Out Out Out. He cut his teeth working at famed alt paper Vue Weekly, screening gig posters, building cameras and obsessing over analog photography in the dark room.
