Lost Souls: Whitehorse
kick off a new era with new songs “Division 5” and “Leave Me As You Found Me”
Whitehorse have always treated genres as mileposts on a back country road; a sign of how far they’ve come, rather than a sign of when to stop. Their new record “I’M NOT CRYING, YOU’RE CRYING” sees the band two-step effortlessly into the world of 70’s country music, with lead conversations-as-singles “Division 5” and “Leave Me As You Found Me” running the gamut from dusty folk to glamorous heartbreak.
But some things never change; cushioned amongst the cry of the lap steel guitar, Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland’s voices swoop and swirl like they were destined to do, the duo spinning catgut and heartstring tales with devastating effect.
Listen to “Division 5” and “Leave Me As You Found Me” in our Horizon Line playlist, featuring Dolly Parton, Jim Croce, Shania Twain amongst others, with songs about lost souls in conversations with and about those who doomed them so.
