So? Did you all have a fantastic holiday weekend? Did the Easter Bunny rise from the grave and bring you enough candy to rot your teeth out sufficiently to prompt a visit from the much higher-paying Tooth Fairy?

JUNO HANGOVER

Six Shooter was repping hard at this year’s Juno Awards! Luke Doucet played Mr. Goal-Keepy Pants at the Juno Cup hockey tournament, and allegedly only let “3 in his five hole”. I’m not really sure what that means, but it sounds dirty. All I really know about hockey is that if you mention the word “Smitty” in Edmonton, you better be ready for a real earful. Luke and NQ Arbuckle rocked their Juno fest show, with the Arbucklerz backing up both artists! Luke also jammed out such hit numbers as ³Louie Louie² and several Paul Simon jamz with a drunken assortment of Can-rock celebs at the Warner Juno party!

Alternative Album Of The Year nominees, Shout Out Out Out Out, also had an action packed Juno weekend. After playing to a sold out crowd of 900-odd people at their Juno fest showcase at the Odeon, they proceeded to have a fun and messy time at the Gala dinner (two members barfed! one spilt a glass of red wine on his all white outfit! yay!), and kept the seat-fillers extra busy at the awards show with their exceptionally tiny bladders. Congratulations to City and Colour for robbing our Edmonton boys of their dreams... waaaa!

RHEOSTATICS HANGOVER

Caitlin will be joining the rest of the Rheostatics devoted fanbase in taking on a lifelong vow of never-ending hangovers in honour of the passing of one of Canada¹s truly great musical phenomena. We¹re talking about the Rheos of course... in case you didn¹t pick up on that.

How were the shows Caitlin? Well, mystery newsletter writer, what I want to say is this:

³To those of you pressed again the back walls, hidden behind pillars, underneath shadows and tucked away in corners, we salute you. Thanks to those who flew, drove and hitchhiked from Winnipeg, Edmonton, Victoria, New York, California, Britain and Australia. And for those who have been tireless supporters, great lovers of music, who throughout the years have bought up every album, worn bare every t-shirt, rocked out every live show and sang every notable word after noteworthy work - you are very star. Massey Hall was stuffed to the gills in true Rheostatics fashion, as if inside the belly of the Whale Music, at the core of Melville, on the edge of the Blue Hysteria and in the heart of Introducing Happiness. We saw the snow fall, heard the horses cry, watched the humble bow. We were the final record body count.

³Though our hearts are perhaps a little wilted, there's always hope for some kinda Bidinielli extra-affaire-possible. Rheostatics Foreva!²

Super-plus bonus! We’re doing a reprint of the Massey Hall t-shirts (sorry we ran out so early at the show...there was a printer error which rendered about half of the t-shirts to be un-sellable). You can order yours at www.sixshooterrecords.com by April 10, 2007. T-shirts will be mailed out about a week later.

SXSW HANGOVER

In the words of Lil’ wayne, “my leather’s so soft, but I go so hard”. In fact, we have been going so hard, we forgot to tell you about all the great things that happened at SXSW! It¹s where our month-long party started, and in the words of our friend Ben Raynor, we have been continually re-toxing ever since.

Of course we started things off right with the ever-popular Mint/Six Shooter Hootenanny! Everyone got lubed up for the SXSW party weekend with “a few” afternoon drinks, and wonderful performances by a whole scad of Mint and Six Shooter artists. Nothing says Texas like a plate full of cheese and an ever-circulating round of Tequila! I can’t go on enough about how great this party is... it was so much FUN! EEEK!

Luke Doucet and Justin Rutledge played spectacular sets at the official Six Shooter rooftop showcase. This was Justin’s first trip to SXSW, and last we saw him he was lying on his back in the middle of 6th street and throwing his guitar case down the street in triumph... oh wait, that was actually Luke on his first trip to SXSW! Justin was last seen trying to coax locals into an eating contest at the Best Wurst sausage wagon.

Shout Out Out Out Out hit SXSW with a vengeance as part of their full-on North American tour which took them on a giant loop around our vast continent hitting most of Canada, a couple shows in New York, Boston, Philly, Houston, LA, and Seattle. They made great friends with their wacky Norwegian tour buddies 120 Days, and their van only broke down once (which wound up being the only time that official tour bully, Gravy, allowed anyone to stop for a meal on the entire 214 hour drive). SXSW was great for the S04 homies, with their official showcase for iheartcomix/AM Only being completely sold-out, and the slamming host of other parties they played at being on the tips of everyone¹s tongues all weekend.

CONTEST

We really need to take it chill for a minute. Our heads are throbbing, our eyes are sweating, and our bodies feel like they¹ve just run a marathon without the healthy part of running a marathon. Whoever sends us the best hangover cure (that actually works) will win a Six Shooter flask and shot glass! How appropriate!

Ok, we need a bubblebath stat,
