Our much anticipated In-store performance by LILY FROST is tomorrow night (Sept 19) at 7 pm! Woot!  The Aporia Records artist brings us songs from her fantastic new disc, 'Cine-Magique'.  Don't miss this sultry chanteuse whose music is a delicious mix of Spanish, French, spaghetti western guitars, love affairs, shadows and light.  Oh yeah, and she also has an awesome dog that is awesome. and cute as tha gosh darn dickens.  Check out www.lilyfrost.com , it's awesome!!!!

And we can't imagine a better follow up to our pal Lily than the equally fabu, but much taller, duo MAJOR MAKER on Tuesday, Sept 26 at 7.  The enigmatic CY SCOBIE (Todor Kobakobakobakobakov) and Toronto's Icelandic Brit-pop darling, the 6'8 LINDY, come together to make the most beautiful pop-rock jams for this new collaboration.  Their website is really crazy too, you must check this:  www.majormaker.com.

There is still one week left to view LOUISE UPPERTON's gorgeous exhibition in our gallery, which closes Sept 22.  Up next is the amazing HEATHER GOODCHILD, whose show, Fairest Among Thousands, Altogether Lovely (FATAL), opens Fri, Sept 29, from 7-10 pm.  In addition to the stunning pieces presented at our upcoming exhibition, you can also see Heather's work on the album covers of new releases by LIVE COUNTRY MUSIC and our very own ridiculously handsome JUSTIN RUTLEDGE.

We are also very pleased to announce an exhibition in late October by acclaimed artist BEVERLEY HAWKSLEY, who is presenting a show inspired by the dual nature of disguise, entitled 'Candor', from October 26 through November 19.  Fans of Beverley's should consider taking a drive up to Huntsville, ON, to check out Beverley's outdoor live exhibit in the forest, entitled 'Subplot', on September 30 & October 1.  Take in art, theatre, and the turning of the leaves in one fell swoop (beverleyhawksley.com).

JUSTIN RUTLEDGE SPEAKS OF THE DEVIL

After a flurry of releases in 2005 (no, that doesn't mean they were flakey), we find ourselves in October before launching our first  (domestic) release of 2006, and holy geez, it is a gooder.  Justin Rutledge's second album, entitled 'The Devil on a Bench in Stanley Park', is in stores October 3rd. I think the title has something to do with a large and somewhat vicious squirrel, but I am only speculating.  His highly acclaimed debut, No Never Alone, brought him alongside artists such as DOLLY PARTON, MARTHA WAINWRIGHT, PATTY GRIFFIN, and BLUE RODEO, and we can't wait to see where his beautiful new record will take us.  Produced by Justin and his guitar-whiz cohort, DAVID BAXTER, the album was recorded at Blue Rodeo's Woodshed studios with contributions by BAZIL DONOVAN, David Baxter, and BURKE CARROLL and guest appearances from JIM CUDDY, GREG KEELOR, TIM VESELY, OH SUSANNA and MELISSA McCLELLAND.  Justin is a total dude, we like him fairly well.

Tickets for Justin Rutledge's CD release show on Oct. 6 at the Horseshoe are already 50% sold (or 50% available if you're keeping it posi), so if you're planning on going, please visit  www.sixshooterrecords.com to pick up your tickets.  We are hella stoked to relay that the VIOLET ARCHERS and the SUNPARLOUR PLAYERS will share the bill.

LUKE DOUCET TRAILBLAZES SIX SHOOTER IN THE USA

After a triumphant show at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on the weekend, LUKE DOUCET packs his bags and heads on down to Nashville, stopping along the way to do a show in Louisville, and arriving in time for an appearance at the Americana Music Conference.  This kicks off the celebration for the re-release of his album, 'Broken (and other rogue states)' in the USA with our new distributor, Red Eye Distribution.  A companion piece to the re-release is a recently recorded 5-song acoustic EP, tiitled 'Foke Star', available for free with the purchase of Broken in USA retail outlets.  Quick on the heels of the AMA showcase, Luke will be playing dates with ROD McDONALD, MELISSA FERRICK, and DAN BERN, and he will eventually find his way to New York City to play every night for a full week at Googies (upstairs at the Living Room) from Oct 17 through 21.  This is the first of several residencies that will find Luke in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco before the year is done. Dude is going all-american this year, holla.

SHOUT OUT OUT OUT OUT TOUR HIJINX

So right about now SHOUT OUT OUT OUT OUT are 4 shows into their cross-Canada tour in support of their bumpin' new dance album 'Not Saying/Just Saying'. They drove a solid 47 hours from Edmonton to meet up with their touring pals HOLY F*CK and LAND OF TALK, which kind of resulted in a smelly van, but not as smelly as the expected results of their upcoming 60 hour drive from Toronto to Vancouver. Egads. Currently the Shout Out Out Out Out boys are relaxing on a day off at the Windsor Casino, and rumour has it that the spa is lovely.

The rave reviews have been pouring in for 'Not Saying / Just Saying', and the crowds have been going bananas. Oh, and guess what? The first single from the album, 'Dude You Feel Electrical', is going to be released shortly on 12" vinyl via our associate label Normals Welcome Records, with 'Self Loathing Rulz' on the b-side, as well as a slammin' remix by German producer Malente. In the meantime, this single was made available in advance digitally on September 5th exclusively through the itunes music store.

IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT.

Most of you have probably heard by now that the upcoming RHEOSTATICS concert at Massey Hall on March 30, 2007 will be the last concert with TIM VESELY and MICHAEL PHILLIP WOJEWODA, (and quite likely, the last Rheostatics concert ever).  I first discovered the Rheostatics in 1988 while on summer vacation in Toronto, and they have been my favourite band ever since.  It has been an honour and a privilege to work with them over the last several years, and they will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.  There are still great seats available (roythomson.com), and we are working on getting hotel rates for the multitude who are planning trips from all over the globe to bid farewell to Canada's much loved band.
