SXSW!
Wow. So Austin knows how to party huh? We are only now beginning to kind of recover from our South By Southwest adventure. The Six Shooter gang got up to all kinds of hijinx over the weekend including:
1. getting all of Austin drunk on tequila at our very own hootenanny
2. eating more Mexican food than most Mexicans (and almost as much BBQ as most Texans)
3. several intense games of "Pass It On"
4. all-night dance parties fueled by energy-malt liquor (what will they think of next, coffee-polar fleece?) which kept us awake until the buffet opened in our hotel!
5. watching a dude dancing with barf all over his back!
6. very narrowly escaped having thousands of bats nesting in our hairdos
7. oh yeah, the shows! Six Shooter artists Luke Doucet, Elliot Brood, Christine Fellows, Shout Out Out Out Out, and Whitey Houston absolutely killed it a crazy variety of venues including outdoor tent thingies, bar patios, the 18th floor of a hotel, and the usual assortment of seedy bars and parties! It was dope!
VOTE JUSTIN!
So Much More Music is taking votes on what all you TV addicts are craving. Basically the way it works is you click on a couple lil' boxes, which starts a cyber chain reaction which, in addition to telling monkeys how many pretzels versus cheesies they should use in their snack food and cream cheese sculpture, tells the lovely music programmers what videos are mad hype and worthy of your viewing. One of the videos in the playlist is our very own Justin Rutledge's "The Suffering Of Pepe O'Malley". Click on the link below, click on the box next to Justin's name, grab some bugles and a tub of cream cheese, sit back and Watch the show. Ya feel me? http://www.muchmoremusic.com/top10/
JUNOS!
This year's edition of the Juno awards will be rocking Halifax this weekend, and we are more excited than Scientologists in a Grammy store... or whatever that expression is. Six Shooter is representing hardcore this year with Luke Doucet being nominated for an award in the "Best Adult Alternative Album" category, and Elliott Brood being nominated in the "Best Roots Group" category. Like what?! Man, we rule. In a totally humble way of course. In true "adult alternative" form, Luke is going to keep his stick on the ice in Juno Cup Hockey (Friday March 31, 7.30pm, Halifax Forum). I think he is the goalie. Four words of warning Luke: puck in the nads. Don't forget the cup buddy.
As usual, if you're gonna throw an awards show, you might as well throw a music festival to go with it. That's cool, we're down for the pound.
