NXNE MADNESS!

Wow. We had a crazy weekend at this years NXNE festival/conference in Toronto. Did ya check us out? Six Shooter had that action on lock: packed house at our main showcase at the Horseshoe, and satellite showcases all over the city, all weekend! Hell, we even managed to cram down a bunch of grilled cheese sandwiches as Veal and Ford Pier played their respective surprise after-hours sets. I feel like that one weekend has put me about two months behind schedule with all the people calling me wanting stuff. But hey, it was fun!

C.FELLOWS CHANGES PANTS, I MEAN, VENUES

After charming the pants off of her nxne crowd, Christine Fellows returns to Toronto once again to reiterate the awesomness her new album, Paper Anniversary. This time she is joined by the amazing and hot cellist from Winnipeg/Texas, Leanne Zacharias, and the indomitable Weakerthans' drummer, Jason Tait. Opening the show are John K. Samson of Weakerthans fame and Constantines' frontman Bry Webb, both doing solo sets. Wow. Did someone say manic Monday? This will be the yay. Due to the demise of the 360, the show will be held at the Mod Club. See tour dates for ticket info.

CHRIS WYNTERS FLIES HOME

Remember that time when you were a kid and you went to your friend's house for dinner, and your friend's mom was all "hey check it out, it's a new kind of pie from Italy" and then she served pizza and you were all "what in tha hey?!" because pizza didn't exist yet and now here you are buying a slice of that biznass for three bucks a pop (unless you're in Vancouver)? Yeah, me neither, but my dad does, he tells me about it from time to time.

Race to your local record store next Tuesday to pick up a slice of a new kind of pie called Skywriting, which was baked with love and affection by the illustrious Chris Wynters. Note to self: look up the word illustrious in the dictionary...

NQ ARBUCKLE SUMMER DIGITAL SINGLE

NQ is releasing an exclusive digital single, available on July 12 through all Canadian digital sites. If you go online and buy that lil' piece of digital love, you too will be exclusive as all hell and you can feel good about wearing that blazer again. The hot track (that's what we call 'em in the biz) is called Huntsville Affair and to celebrate NQ is touring Western Canada for the first time, and will discover the true joys of Alberta Champagne (aka Pilsner). Check it in the tour dates section.

GO JUSTIN RUTLEDGE

On Saturday June 25th, Justin is going to be on the season finale of Go (CBC's national Saturday morning radio show), live from the National Library in Ottawa. It's going to be a special 'Grooveshinny' edition, and while that may sound like a game involving paisley pants and hitting a turd with a hockey stick, I know you remember that Grooveshinny has always been an awesome music game show that featured Richard Crouse as the musical mastermind, a perfect stranger right off the street, and a Canadian musician. Justin will be playing along in the trivia rounds and playing a couple of songs. At nxne Justin stood on a chair. It's true, I was there. Oh yeah, and he also served grilled cheese sandwiches like a pro.

The show rolls live to the Maritimes at 9:05am and runs for 90 minutes.
