New year, big news. The Strumbellas kick off 2016 by signing a deal with indie/alt powerhouse label Glassnote Records. The band’s new album Hope will be released in April 2016 on Six Shooter Records in Canada, and on Glassnote Records (Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, Childish Gambino, CHVRCHES) in all other territories. In Glassnote’s official announcement about the deal, President Daniel Glass has warmly welcomed the band. “The Strumbellas’ powerful, anthemic music is a force to be reckoned with,” he says, “I am extremely proud and honoured to have them join the Glassnote team.”
Six Shooter Records is thrilled with the news. “We couldn’t be happier that the fine folks at Glassnote are on board,” says President Shauna de Cartier. “We have been extremely proud of our association with this excellent band, which began with the release of We Still Move On Dance Floors. Glassnote’s enthusiasm will help bring deserved worldwide recognition to The Strumbellas.”
“Spirits,” the soaring first single, recently entered the Top 10 on the Canadian Alternative Chart (watch the music video below). The Strumbellas kicked off 2016 in the U.S. with outstanding radio adds from KROQ in Los Angeles, Live 105 in San Francisco and WLUM in Milwaukee. “Spirits” also caught the ear of Apple’s Beats1 host Zane Lowe, who played the song yesterday as a World First ahead of today’s announcement.
The Strumbellas will open for Blue Rodeo across Ontario and dates in Eastern Canada throughout February.
