We’re proud to announce that The Deep Dark Woods will release their third full-length record, The Place I Left Behind, on August 2, 2011 on Six Shooter Records. Yayee! A follow-up to 2009’s deep dark dirge, the award-winning Winter Hours, the new album is the band’s first self-produced project. The Place I Left Behind is a fine collection of songcraft that offers murder ballads alongside scrappy rockers, lovesick hymnals and slow-dance waltzes that preserve the shadowy corners of folk music traditions. Based in Saskatchewan, the Deep Dark Woods sport a varying degree of unshaven faces planted on top of the shoulders of: Burke Barlow, Ryan Boldt, Lucas Goetz, Geoff Hilhorst, and Chris Mason. The album comes out the week they hit the Edmonton Folk Music Festival.
