WEEKEND PASSES ON SALE FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2015 @ 8am CT at www.interstellarrodeo.com. #iRodeoWPG
Interstellar Rodeo is excited to bring its unique concept of important, inimitable music paired with fine wines and high-quality local food to the heart of the city, at The Forks, August 14-16. With only one stage and a mandate to offer a sophisticated and distinctive take on the festival experience, Interstellar Rodeo is a meticulously curated weekend celebration of music, wine and food excellence. Interstellar Rodeo Winnipeg explodes out of the gates in its first year with a lineup that brings together some of the world’s most compelling, original and masterful artists ever to top charts and make headlines.
At the top of this year’s bill are artists who stand worlds apart musically, but who share a talent for crafting music that stands the test of time. For 2015, Interstellar Rodeo is humbled to welcome Sinead O’Connor, unparalleled in her relentless pursuit of artistic expression; Dwight Yoakam, a country music pioneer and honky tonk rebel hero; Blue Rodeo, a Hall of Fame band whose songs represent the quintessential Canadian summer festival soundtrack; and Vance Joy, an exciting newcomer with a knack for skillfully crafted, intensely catchy pop music.
Steve Earle & The Dukes and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings represent the power of longevity and unending creativity. Each artist brings outstanding takes on different traditions, from the rabble-rousing troubadour to the revivalist presentation of the essence of funk/soul sound. Rhiannon Giddens, The Lone Bellow and Black Joe Lewis round out the list of Americana artists who bring progressive, exciting and vital voices to the Interstellar Rodeo stage.
Interstellar Rodeo 2015 has its share of provocative, edgy artists whose fearlessness and uniqueness make them unforgettable performers. This year, #iRodeoWPG welcomes Tanya Tagaq, Manitoba’s own Polaris Prize Winner and international superstar; Hawksley Workman, a musical wildcard whose unpredictable brilliance is a national treasure; July Talk, who recently capped an incredibly quick rise on their debut album with a Juno for Alternative Album of the Year. Their wild and mesmerizing live show is equal parts chaos and control.
Elliott BROOD and NQ Arbuckle bring high-energy, frenetic and captivating performances that guarantee to get audiences up and moving. Proud prairie rockers Jason Plumb & The Willing round out an impressive diversity of Canadian roots rock on this year’s bill.
Interstellar Rodeo producers Six Shooter Records have a particular love of songwriters, and the festival lineup includes Six Shooter’s very own, Juno winning poet-lyricist Amelia Curran and Americana troubadour Justin Townes Earle.
