Whitehorse to headline tour from west coast to Canada’s capital

whitehorse-bundles-webstoreV4

Hot on the hooves of Whitehorse’s announcement about a new record, Leave No Bridge Unburned, to be released on February 17, 2015, comes follow-up news confirming an expansive headline tour from West Coast to Canada’s capital in April-May 2015.

Whitehorse launched the new album with a sparse and sinewy video for “Sweet Disaster,” a piece that longtime fan Grant Lawrence (CBC) calls a “sultry cross between ‘Stand By Me’ and ‘True Detective.’” The song is about space, time and love, nestled in an idea about a one-way ticket to planet Mars.

Leave No Bridge Unburned is available for exclusive pre-order, including instant triple download of three new songs from the album, including “Sweet Disaster,” from iTunes now.

New for this tour is Whitehorse’s first ever offering of exclusive ticket bundles that include music, exclusive merch, meet & greets and more. Tickets and bundles for all tour dates will be available starting Friday, November 21, 2014.

MONTREAL, QC: L’Astral, February 21

WHERE THERE’S SMOKE, THERE’S FIRE: WHITEHORSE ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM, ‘LEAVE NO BRIDGE UNBURNED,’ WITH FIRST SONG AND VIDEO.

Whitehorse announces a new album, Leave No Bridge Unburned, with “Sweet Disaster,” a song that channels Bond themes and Sixties R&B with a slinky, stylized video to match.

“Sweet Disaster” is a story about one rich man’s quest to send a couple to Mars. It’s fitting subject matter for Melissa’s first ever love song to Luke, and for a band described thus far as “space cowboy lovebirds” (Now Magazine, Toronto).

SHAKEY GRAVES UPDATE: “AND THE WAR CAME” OUT TODAY! WESTERN CANADIAN TOUR COMPLETELY SOLD OUT. TORONTO SHOW UPGRADED TO THE PHOENIX.

Austin’s most famous one-man-band, Shakey Graves, takes his show on the road with the official release of And the War Came, only the second album of his short but vertically-oriented musical career. The album, out today on Six Shooter Records in Canada, bursts out of the gates bolstered by national radio play, a strong review in Exclaim and a sold out string of Western Canadian dates, not to mention an upgrade from The Horseshoe Tavern to The Phoenix in Toronto (December 2).

Don’t be surprised if you see more than one musician on stage this fall. As told to the New York Times, Shakey Graves is expanding his live shows to include a “a rotating cast of musicians who might add a bass, fiddle or cello,” an idea, “inspired by ‘Stop Making Sense,’ the Talking Heads film in which the bandleader, David Byrne, starts out alone and then gradually introduces musicians as the set progresses.” (NY Times). Amelia Curran ~ They Promised You Mercy

We are so pleased to finally announce details of They Promised You Mercy, the fourth Six Shooter Records album from Amelia Curran, songwriter extraordinaire and pride of Newfoundland. They Promised You Mercy will be out on November 4, 2014. We decided to celebrate the songwriting on They Promised You Mercy by first sharing the complete album lyrics (music will come soon!), which you can read HERE.

On They Promised You Mercy, Amelia’s knife-sharp lyrics find peace and even cheerfulness amidst lush layers provided by award-winning producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda’s nuanced studio vision. The album is a poised, focused and consummate work that showcases Amelia’s singular songwriting talent. They Promised You Mercy raises the lyrical bar yet again with its unrivalled eloquence.

They Promised You Mercy heralds an impressive list of accomplished Canadian players that include guitarist Martin Tielli of the Rheostatics who also painted the portrait for the albums cover artwork, lap steel guitarist Christine Bougie (Bahamas), trombonist William Carn (Elton John), saxophonist Gene Hardy (Michael Bublé), pianist Aaron Davis (Holly Cole Trio), guitarist Dean Drouillard (Sarah Harmer) and drummer Joshua Van Tassel (Great Lake Swimmers).

Six Shooter Records is proud to release They Promised You Mercy on November 4, 2014.
